Ingredients

600 grams extra lean ground beef
1/8 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
2 tsp oregano
1 1/2 Tbsp. reduced sugar ketchup

2 tomatoes, sliced thin
1 head of iceberg lettuce
4 slices low fat mozzarella (50-60 cal)

Sauce

3 Tbsp. mayo
2 Tbsp. reduced sugar ketchup
1/2 Tbsp. dill pickle relish
salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. If using a grill heat it before beginning to prep the burgers. You can also use a grilling pan or frying pan as an alternative.
  2. In a big bowl mix together: beef, salt, pepper, oregano and ketchup.
  3. Cover food scale with foil or a plate. Make burger patties and weigh them to ensure they are the all the same (approx. 150 grams).
  4. If using a pan, lightly grease it with a cooking spray. You won’t need much!
  5. Cook burgers for 4-5 minutes on each sides (try not to only flip the burgers once and avoid pressing down on them).
  6. While burgers are cooking, wash the lettuce and mix together ingredients for sauce.
  7. When your burgers are finishing up, place sliced cheese on top and let melt.

Store burgers and vegetables in their own containers or plastic bags

  • When you are ready to eat, construct your garden burger by laying your beef patty on a large lettuce leaf, followed by tomatoes (onions, cucumber), sauce and wrap from top to bottom with a second lettuce leaf.
  • Serve with green salad and low calorie dressing with less than 3 grams of fat.
