Progress comes in many forms. (2016 left vs 2017 right)

Some people will look at these photos and say, you wasted a year, you look the same. I disagree. I spent a year finding my balance.

While I was in no way unhappy in 2016, I was in fact over training. I took macro and training advice from someone with a lot or credentials. Unfortunately, they used cookie cutter plans and the same macro % ratios for everyone.
.
As someone who was already anxious about eating carbs being told to eat 93 grams of carbs a day only reinforced that. When I said I was having a hard time eating the 1900 calories stated, it was dropped to 1300. I’m glad I was too smart to listen to that. My point is fitness, like life, is about learning. We all need to learn what works for us and use it to our advantage.

I’ve spent the last year increasing my calories, increasing my carb intake.. It’s almost 3x higher on leg day ?. I’ve also cut out training I don’t like (daily cardio) and added in some conditioning. While experimenting with calories, macros and exercise can be scary, I firmly believe that it’s important to grow. It’s great to ask for advice but doing your own research is also super super important!! ?
