Rest Day Stress?

๐˜ฟ๐™Š ๐™๐™€๐™Ž๐™ ๐˜ฟ๐˜ผ๐™”๐™Ž ๐™Ž๐™๐™๐™€๐™Ž๐™Ž ๐™”๐™Š๐™ ๐™Š๐™๐™? I just took 4 days off the gym. I didn’t even wear my watch to track my steps! This would have been ๐—ถ๐—บ๐—ฝ๐—ผ๐˜€๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ฏ๐—น๐—ฒ for me 2 years ago.

I use to think taking 2 or 3 days off the gym would ๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ฑ๐—ผ ๐—”๐—Ÿ๐—Ÿ ๐—บ๐˜† ๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฑ ๐˜„๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ธ ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—ฝ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—ด๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜€.

It’s why I worked out even when I was ๐˜€๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ฒ๐—ฝ ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ฝ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ฑ, had a ๐—ณ๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ, or a ๐˜€๐—ฎ๐˜ƒ๐—ฎ๐—ด๐—ฒ ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ด๐—ต. Those workouts certainly didn’t help me get ahead. If anything they made me more sick and made my recovery that much harder.

And while our hotel in Palm Springs didn’t have a gym, I know I could have easily gotten a workout in. But I ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ผ๐˜€๐—ฒ to take a break. I ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ผ๐˜€๐—ฒ to let my body rest and unwind without guilt. It was probably exactly what I needed after 2 very long weeks away from home.

I am all for getting in daily movement, prioritizing it, scheduling it in and getting on a sweat. BUT, I also believe that if being active is part of your lifestyle, taking time to rest and recover is important too!
