Ingredients
600 grams extra lean ground beef
1/8 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
2 tsp oregano
1 1/2 Tbsp. reduced sugar ketchup
2 tomatoes, sliced thin
1 head of iceberg lettuce
4 slices low fat mozzarella (50-60 cal)
Sauce
3 Tbsp. mayo
2 Tbsp. reduced sugar ketchup
1/2 Tbsp. dill pickle relish
salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- If using a grill heat it before beginning to prep the burgers. You can also use a grilling pan or frying pan as an alternative.
- In a big bowl mix together: beef, salt, pepper, oregano and ketchup.
- Cover food scale with foil or a plate. Make burger patties and weigh them to ensure they are the all the same (approx. 150 grams).
- If using a pan, lightly grease it with a cooking spray. You won’t need much!
- Cook burgers for 4-5 minutes on each sides (try not to only flip the burgers once and avoid pressing down on them).
- While burgers are cooking, wash the lettuce and mix together ingredients for sauce.
- When your burgers are finishing up, place sliced cheese on top and let melt.
Store burgers and vegetables in their own containers or plastic bags
- When you are ready to eat, construct your garden burger by laying your beef patty on a large lettuce leaf, followed by tomatoes (onions, cucumber), sauce and wrap from top to bottom with a second lettuce leaf.
- Serve with green salad and low calorie dressing with less than 3 grams of fat.
